Who doesn’t love feeling pulled together and beautiful? I feel like most days, because of being a single mom in college, I do not have the time to put towards myself. Most days I feel like I have to rush around getting my daughter ready that I don’t put much attention to myself. {Thank god for being able to wear hoodies to class!}

Whenever I am able to get dressed up, I instantly feel good about myself. I feel like I can take in anything that like throws at me. {I live by the philosophy, ‘look good; feel good.}

Today, I decided I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and wear a body suit and floppy hat. I own a few floppy hats, but always talk myself out of wearing them. Today I was feeling confident though. I absolutely love body suits, but always feel like they look weird on me.

I also threw on a pair of strappy black high heel sandals instead of my signature white converse sneakers. I finished off my outfit with my favorite bag, Louis Vuitton speedy 35. {This bag is classic and goes with everything!}

How are you ladies rocking spring fashion? I would love some fashion ideas for this season. Leave me some ideas in the comments.

Mermaid Hair Don’t Care

Hello there beauties!

Who is ready for summer? {With finals week for me coming up soon, I am beyond ready for summer!}

About a month ago, I got the opportunity to go to Miami for vacation and fell in love with the way my responded to the salt water. Typically, I do not do much to my hair, at least when I am going to school. My hair is naturally rather pin straight, but I loved the way the salt water added beautiful texture to my hair!

When I got home, I wanted to find an easy way to recreate the same texture in my hair, without having to spend a lot of time doing my hair, like I have to when I use my curling wand. I also wanted to recreate the beach waves in my hair because I have always been jealous of girls with curly hair. {I feel like a lot of girls with straight hair can relate to this!}

I found that I absolutely love Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray! {Right now, April 11th, they are buy one get one 50% off!} This spray gave me the same effect that the salt water in Miami did to my hair.

Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

Some reviews online stated that this product dried out their hair. I noticed this a little bit but it was not much and did not deter me from using the product. {I recommend using OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Penetrating Oil. I love this product because it adds moisture to my hair, without making it greasy or weighing it down.}

When I want to add extra beach waves to my hair, I will also use Bed Head Wave Artist Ceramic Deep Waver.I love this beach waver because it makes natural looking curls. It does take a little bit of time getting used to, but once you lwarn how to use it effectively, you will love it! {For you ladies I did some research on prices. Online, Ulta sells this product for $34.99, but I have found it cheaper at Walmart, $22.99, and Target, $22.99.}

How to make your skin bloom

Hello there beauties! ♥

Being that I am a science major, I am a little bit of a nerd when it comes to all things about the body. Well, your body’s largest organ is the skin, so why not take care of it to the best of your ability?

Recently, I have become more proactive about taking care of my skin properly. Devoting time to your skin every day to take care of it properly is an investment that you deserve! Take some time to pamper yourself! {You don’t have to tell me that twice!}

But, with all of the skincare products offered, where do you even begin?

Starting with a clean canvas is the most important aspect of proper skincare. To clean my face every morning and night I use Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Waterproof Makeup Remover. My skin is rather sensitive, and this product has never caused me any issues! This cleanser works amazingly with removing any makeup that I may have used, even waterproof. Every morning and evening I saturate a cotton pad with the micellar water and with an upward motion, lightly rub to remove all of my makeup. {Make sure to thoroughly shake the micellar water before use to make sure that it is fully mixed.}

The instructions for this product states that you do not need to wash your face after use, but I always use a small amount of Clean & Clear Morning Burst Oil-Free Hydrating Facial Cleanser. Each morning, I also use Freeman Feeling Beautiful Polishing Mask, Charcoal & Black Sugar . When using this product, I put a small amount into my palm and gently scrub my skin and wash off with warm water. Make sure to be gentle with this scrub so that you do not cause irritation to your skin. {Just wait until you feel how amazingly smooth your skin will feel! You will be in love!}

One product that I have found people normally skip is toner. I too used to be one of those people, until I did more research on what the product really does for the skin and now I never go without it. I have found that adding toner in to my skincare routine twice a day has been amazing at evening out my skin tone and gently remove dead skin and impurities that may clog your pores. {For more information on toner, check out my previous blog post about it by clicking here.}

 After my skin has air dried from the toner, I apply moisturizer. When searching for the perfect moisturizers for my skin, I fell in love with the products that Philosophy puts out! The moisturizer that I use every day, either before makeup or when I decide to go makeup free {aka too tired to wake up early enough to put makeup on}, is Renewed Hope in a Jar by Philosophy.

At the end of the day, I go through the steps of Micellar water, face wash, and toner again. In the evening though, I use Renewed Hope in a Jar Overnight by Philosophy.

These moisturizers by Philosophy are amazing and absolutely worth the investment! I have been using these moisturizers since Christmas time and my skin has improved in elasticity and texture. {Holiday time is a great time to invest in a gift set because it will save you money while giving you a chance to try the products!}

{For more information on on how these Philosophy moisturizers have impacted my skin, read my previous blog post}

I would love to hear your feedback about your skincare routine! Leave me a comment!

Skincare essentials

Hello there beautiful!

Coming up later today, I will be sharing with all of you my morning and evening skincare regiment! {Make sure to check it out! You ladies will love it!} Leading up to that post, I wanted to break down some of the products that I use in individual post! {Each product is AMAZING and I want to make sure you all understand their importance!}

In my previous blog post, I wrote about a product that many women seem to be skipping, toner. {If you would like to check out that blog, click here.} Toner is a product that has changed the texture and appearance of my skin and I am in love with it!

Now, we are going to discuss more in depth the two moisturizers that I use to keep my skin soft and smooth. {Who doesn’t want that!?} Ladies, there are a copious number of products available on the market, so it is a daunting task to visit Ulta or Sephora and try to find the right moisturizer for you. {Doing research and reading other customers reviews helps out so much!}

My skin gets rather dry on the T area, so I wanted to find a product that would counteract that. During winter, my skin especially gets dry because of the wind and snow. {Speaking of snow, we got more snow last night. When is spring again!?} I took about two weeks reading reviews online for different products so that I knew a general idea of how the products would work on my skin, based on other’s experiences with relatively similar skin.

~PRO TIP~ Visit Sephora and ask for a sample of a product that you think will work well for your skin. The sample that they give you will be free and it will help you not waste money on products that may not agree with your skin or cause a breakout. {And, who doesn’t love free thing!?}

I came across products from Philosophy and was blown away by the reviews that customers were posting about the products, and the prices were reasonable compared to others that I was looking at.

Finally, I felt confident going to the store and purchasing two products from Philosophy, Renewed Hope in A Jar Refreshing and Refining Moisturizer and Renewed Hope in A Jar Overnight Recharging and Refining Moisturizer.

The cream that I use in the morning under any makeup, has a normal consistency for lotion. It is not too thick or too thin. I love that it spreads evenly across my face and does not feel like I am wearing anything after it has been completely absorbed into my skin. I also love that this product does not clog my pores. I found with other facial moisturizers, i would breakout around my nose because of it clogging my pores.

The overnight cream is thicker in consistency. I love that it is a thicker product. Personally, I enjoy to put a thicker amount on my forehead and around any crows feet I may be getting. I have found that this has helped improve any appearance of fine lines or wrinkles that I have been starting to get. While I let the thicker areas of application sit, I will finish with my bedtime routine like brushing and flossing my teeth. After I have finished all of my other tasks, I will rub in the remaining cream. I truly believe that it is doing wonders for my skins.

Ladies, do you have any moisturizers that you love that I should give a try? Leave any suggestions in the comments!

Sunday essentials

Hello there beauties!

For me, Sunday is my absolute favorite day of the week because it is the only day that I do not feel bad about laying around and being lazy. {We all need days like that, am I right ladies? I know I do, especially now that it’s the inbetween winter and spring weather.}

Honestly, most Sundays are days that I skip washing my hair. Since I have blonde hair, I tend to wash my hair every day, mainly because I feel that grease shows easily in my hair. {Sadly, I always feel like it looks greasy even if I put it up after skipping washing it.}

When I was 18, I had just started my first job where I was making my own money. After my first paycheck I felt so proud having my own money and bought dry shampoo. {I felt so proud buying anything, even dry shampoo, with my hard earned money.} I remembering following the instructions and it always made my hair look worse. Eventually I swore off dry shampoo. Thank god though, I learned about Batiste dry shampoo! I am enthralled by the results!

The product has a light, fresh scent that was just the perfect potency. {I take ballet and gymnastics classes, and this product works perfecting refreshing my hair after a dance class if I need to do anything afterwards.}

This product also did not leave my hair with a white powdery or crisp texture. It also added a decent amount of volume to my hair! Overall, I love this product and would recommend this to anyone. I also love that the product is available with a tint added. I know that personally, I love the look that Brilliant blonde leaves on my hair. I am a natural blonde, so I feel that my hair becomes dull, especially when it is greasy, and this product counteracts it!

*The Batiste dry shampoo comes in three tints: brilliant blonde, divine dark, and beautiful brunette. They also sell dry shampoo that does not include the tint. Those dry shampoos come in 12 scents: original, blush, refresh, cherry, wild, tropical, floral essence, neon lights, bare, and sweetie. I love that they offer such a great variety. There truly is a product available for everyone.*

Check out Ulta, click link here, to view some of the dry shampoos that Batiste offers.

This product has increased my confidence in having more “skip days” when it comes to washing my hair! {Before learning about this product, I would always wear my hair up if I did not wash it that day. Now, I feel confident using this product the next day and wearing my hair down, which always makes me feel most confident.}

~PRO TIP ~  Flip your head upside down so that your hair is directed towards the floor, and then take a bristle brush and move it in left and right motions. This will help to add more volume to your hair while also removing any remaining dry shampoo. {I found that I even skipped brushing my hair alone, that the extra tint and remaining dry shampoo would come off on my hands.}

~BEFORE~

~AFTER~

{If I were going anywhere, like school or work, I would style my hair with either a beach waver or a flat iron.}

Batiste now offers travel size canisters of their dry shampoo in 3 scents and 2 colors. This is a great opporthnity for anyone that does not want to pay for a large can of dry shampoo before knowing how it works for them. The travel size cans can be found here.

Thank you for reading! Ladies, leave me a comment if you have any dry shampoos that I should try!

Enjoy a lazy day. You deserve it!

Skincare is something that I invest a lot of time in. Who doesn’t love to have clean and clear skin that gets you noticed? My normal skincare routine up until a few months ago just consisted of makeup remover, face wash, and moisturizer, but then I started to do more research on products to add to my skincare regiment.

A lot of articles that I was reading mentioned how gentle toner was at exfoliating the skin, but that most women did not use it. {That was evident when I went to the store to buy toner because most of the bottles had a layer of dust on top.} Because I have rather sensitive skin, I figured that this would be a perfect option for my skin, because it would smooth it out while avoiding damage! {Because really, who doesn’t want that!}

When choosing products for my skin, I love when I can find a product that works well but is also naturally based so that I can feel confident using it on my face. When looking at toners, I found that some of them had a strong scent to them which I was not a fan of at all. {Who would want to put that on their face?!}

Finally, after a lot of time searching, and enough looks from my boyfriend that he wanted to leave, I found a toner that I wanted to try out. The toner I chose is Simple Soothing Facial Toner. I love that this product has no harsh chemicals or artificial perfumes or dyes! {You cannot beat that!}

I use this product twice a day by saturating a cotton pad, this kind, and gently swirling the pad around my face in an upward motion. Now that I have been using it consistently for about four months, I have found the size of my pores has reduced. I have so noticed that I am getting fewer breakouts around my nose as well as on my chin. I fully credit this to the toner for keeping my skin clear!

I would love to hear some feedback on toners that you have tried and loved or if you are going to give toner a chance!

Skincare Game Changer ~ Toner

Well, hello there beautiful! ♥

Raise your hand if you love lush lashes! I will be the first one to admit that I instantly feel put together and ready to tackle the day once I have my mascara on. {Well, a large cup of coffee helps too!} Long, thick lashes is something that I always strive to achieve when doing my makeup, especially for special occasions {or for the perfect Instagram selfie, right ladies?}. Personally, I have never been a fan of fake lashes. I have always felt that they weighed my eyes down and made me feel tired. {It also gave me flashbacks to being in dance recitals as a kid and being overwhelmed with the uncomfortable lashes during performances.}

Instead, I have been on the search for the perfect mascara, and we all know there are TONS of choices! I started to see people online posting the effects of Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes+ mascara and was impressed by results, but not by the price, $29 each set. As a college student, logistically I could not invest in that product, yet, and was on the hunt for the perfect dupe for it.

Finally, after trying quite a few products, I found a mascara that offered relatively the same results, but for over half the price, Physicians Formula Eye Booster Instant Lash Extension Kit, each set only $12.98. Another kit from Physicians Formula is the Eye Booster Instant Doll Lash Extension Kit, for $14.99 each, but I personally prefer the regular lash extension kit because of the shape of this brush compared to the doll lash extension kit.

The only problem that I have noticed with these eyelash extension kits is that the fibers may flake off if there is not enough mascara covering the fibers. It is important to do at least one thick and even coat  of mascara after applying the fibers. Personally, when I want to make sure that my makeup lasts all day, I will use a cheap waterproof mascara, like Wet n Wild Max Volume Plus Waterproof Hydrofuge Mascara, and then finish off with makeup setter, Maybelline FaceStudio Master Fix Wear Boosting Setting Spray.

~PRO TIP~ If you would like the longest looking lashes possible, I recommend you using an eyelash primer. An awesome primer that I have been using is L’OREAL Voluminous Lash Primer.

I would love to hear your ladies feedback on mascaras that work for you! Comment your selections below ladies.
